Who this fits

This role suits an entrepreneurial clean energy professional who can learn quickly and engage with technical finance topics. You’ll work with tax-credit buyers and sellers while owning outreach, conversations, follow-up, and process improvement. The company prefers candidates based in Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles, and the role is part of a remote-first setup.

From the employer

Rockstar is recruiting for a clean energy finance company that is transforming how clean energy projects are financed. Since 2024, their tax credit transfer business has partnered with major corporations to unlock over $8 billion in clean energy investment, including some of the industry's largest transactions. Their compliance business is building disruptive software for developers to track operations and ensure regulatory compliance.

About the Company

The company has built a consistently profitable company, focused on building for the long term. They raised a small seed round of funding in 2023, and have since repaid their investors in full. They do not have pressure from VCs or outside investors to chase short-term targets; they have the autonomy to focus on building a great long-term business. The company's laser focus on solving tough problems has resulted in repeat customers and strong profitability since 2024.

They have worked hard to build a mission-driven company culture that values creativity, collaboration, excellence, and speed without sacrificing fun. Their talented team includes experienced leaders from SunEdison, SolarCity, Tesla, GoodLeap, and other clean energy companies; they are consistently amazed by what their 30+ person team of experts can accomplish.

They look for curious, smart, and kind colleagues with an entrepreneurial streak (they have quite a few ex-entrepreneurs on their team). The company is a great place to learn from energy finance experts and play a critical role in deploying clean energy technologies such as battery storage, nuclear, manufacturing, solar, and wind.

About the Role

The company is looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial clean energy expert to join their growing business development team. You will develop and manage relationships with corporate tax buyers and clean energy project developers / manufacturers, while also creating efficient processes for new and existing customer outreach.

You must have a background in clean energy finance, or a strong willingness and ability to learn quickly.

What You'll Do

Originate and manage relationships with tax credit buyers and sellers

  • Manage top-of-funnel outreach; research and develop a target list, and develop creative and data-driven campaigns to unlock conversations with new customers
  • Lead conversations with both tax credit buyers and sellers, and manage all follow-ups in a fast and detail-oriented manner
  • Serve as a trusted and consultative partner who can answer highly technical questions as well as big-picture strategic questions
  • Build the case for working with the company, drawing on insights you collect from direct conversations with customers and partners

Sales operations and process development

  • Develop efficient sales processes; get creative with existing and new tools to drive continued, measurable customer growth
  • Create sales materials to educate tax credit buyers and sellers
  • Demonstrate initiative and ownership in handling business development tasks

What You'll Need

  • Must have top-of-the-funnel business development experience (e.g., cold outreach, customer research)
  • Must have track record of accomplishment in an entrepreneurial setting
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Must be comfortable using technology and other hacks to get a lot done with limited resources
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience working in a high-growth environment

The company is an equal opportunity employer. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't line up exactly with the job description.

Location

The company is a remote-first company, but for this role they prefer candidates in Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles.
