Growth Roles summary, based on the employer's posting.
What you'll do
- Lead discovery, architecture reviews, demos, whiteboards, executive briefings, and security evaluations through technical close
- Inspect prospects’ identity, CRM, ITSM, cloud, and SaaS environments to scope integrations and surface blockers
- Turn customer environments into pilots by setting success measures, building proof-of-concept workspaces, and proving value
- Create the initial SE system, including demo setups, reference designs, evaluation methods, FAQs, competitive guidance, and repeatable plays
- Feed field objections and product gaps to Engineering, while training AEs and future SEs with demos, talk tracks, and enablement
What you bring
- At least five years in solutions engineering, sales engineering, or comparable pre-sales work for B2B software or infrastructure
- Hands-on ability to build demos or proof-of-value work, scope the important pieces, and deliver them independently
- Technical credibility with CIOs, IT leaders, and security teams, including live integration debugging and architecture discussions
- Working understanding of enterprise AI, including LLMs, agentic processes, multimodal systems, and security implications
- Clear written and spoken communication, with the range to explain complex workflows to business and technical audiences
Who this fits
You’ll suit a first-SE role where you create the operating model rather than inherit one, work directly with GTM leaders and Account Executives, and operate independently in ambiguity. The position is remote across the United States, with preference for New York City and Palo Alto; people outside Palo Alto are currently remote. It reports to the Head of GTM Engineering and is an individual contributor role focused on building the SE function.
From the employer
This is the first technical seller in the GTM org and the person who defines what world-class SE looks like at Genspark. You'll sit across the table from sophisticated IT and security buyers who test every claim we make. Your job is to earn their trust, prove the platform, and win the technical decision.
Because you're first, you're not inheriting a playbook — you're writing it. You'll partner directly with our GTM leaders and Account Executives, shape how we demo and run technical evaluations, and build the foundation the next ten SEs will use.
This role reports to the Head of GTM Engineering (Eduardo Ynaty) — flat org, no layers between you and the decision-maker.
What You'll Do
- Run the technical sales motion end-to-end — discovery, architecture, demos, whiteboard sessions, executive briefings, and the security review that wins technical buy-in.
- Go deep on the prospect's stack — identity providers, CRMs, ITSM, cloud infrastructure, and the SaaS apps Genspark integrates with. Scope integrations, anticipate blockers, and prove value in a pilot.
- Translate technical environments into scoped pilots — define success criteria, build proof-of-concept workspaces, and demonstrate how Genspark's multi-agent workflows replace point-tool sprawl.
- Be the credible voice on security and access — fluent in guardrails, approval workflows, least-privilege access, audit logging, and the compliance questions security teams actually press on. No hand-waving.
- Build the SE toolkit from scratch — demo environments, reference architectures, evaluation frameworks, technical FAQs, competitive positioning, and repeatable plays that scale the team.
- Act as the bridge between field and product — capture the hardest objections, feature gaps, and real-world use cases, then work directly with Engineering to close them.
- Enable the broader GTM org — package what you learn into demo assets, talk tracks, and training that makes AEs and future SEs better.
Who You Are
- 5+ years in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a comparable pre-sales technical role at a B2B software or infrastructure company.
- A builder at heart — you can scope what matters, stand up a demo or proof-of-value yourself, and ship it. You don't wait for someone else to build the deck.
- Deeply technical and credible — the kind of person who earns the respect of CIOs, Heads of IT, and security leaders in the first meeting. You can hold your own in an architecture review, debug an integration live, and answer a sharp security question without reaching for a slide.
- AI-fluent, not AI-bullish — you understand how LLMs, agentic workflows, and multi-modal AI systems actually work in enterprise contexts. You can explain the difference between a deterministic script and a reasoning agent — and why that matters for a security review.
- A trusted advisor by instinct — you listen for the real problem and prove value in the sales cycle rather than pitching features.
- Comfortable in ambiguity — you own your work end-to-end, move without waiting to be told what to build next, and know that "first SE" means writing the FAQ, not reading it.
- Excellent communicator — you can translate a complex multi-agent workflow into clear business value for a CFO, then switch to technical depth for an engineering reviewer. You write clearly and present persuasively.
Nice to Have
- Programming fluency (Python, JavaScript, or SQL) — enough to wire APIs, build a quick demo, or debug a prototype.
- Experience with enterprise security, compliance, and procurement processes (RFPs, DPAs, risk assessments, SSO/SCIM).
- Prior founding or early-stage SE experience — you've been the first SE before and know what it takes.
- Familiarity with the modern IT stack: IdPs, SCIM, ITSM, CRM, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise SaaS administration.
- GTM Engineering or Forward Deployed Engineering exposure — you understand the builder/seller hybrid model.
Location
Remote-friendly across the US. Preference for NYC and Palo Alto — we have a small Palo Alto office (engineering + cofounding team) and a NYC office is likely coming. Everyone outside Palo Alto is currently remote.
